| I'm coming back for dessert! |
| Sunday, February 28, 2010 |
Of course, I had to try their most popular dish, THE SPICY CHA CHA! The name in itself makes it worth trying. It was not so spicy, but full of cha cha if that makes any sense. Haha...these little shrimp-like creatures were so perfectly breaded. Usually, fried foods hurt my throat, but this didn't have that effect. Perhaps, they bake it or something.
The yellow noodles of the Wonton Noodle soup appeared wide and thick. I usually like my noodles thin, but this is an exception! They were oh so soft! The broth looked a bit oily, but it was well seasoned.
The Happy Barbecue dish had soy protein bits that were also in the soup. For that reason, this dish was not exciting for me. It didn't get my cha cha's going. The sauce had the right tanginess to it.
My mom wanted the pina colada which was nothing too special. I'd rather have the real thing. Bwahaha...but all the other drinks sure look good! A side cafe would be a nice addition. Add free wi-fi and I'd be here every weekend.
I'm coming back for dessert! ...once lent is over... |

If all vegan food tasted like this, I MIGHT just go herbivore |
| Saturday, February 27, 2010 |
If all vegan food tasted like this, I MIGHT just go herbivore. My friend got the vermicelli and the soy meat tasted exactly like the pork you'd get at Vietnamese restaurants. It came with flour noodles, which was kind of weird, but overall the flavor was pretty spot on. I got the Guru's curry which isn't that exciting, just tofu and potatoes. Another friend got the Happy BBQ (the red meat aka char sui from Hong Kong BBQ places) that didn't taste like what it's suppose to, but it was decent enough. Best part of the meal was the fried tofu appetizer. mmmm smushy crispy crust tofu.
Desserts were gross. I don't care what you put, but any desert with the absence of milk and eggs just tastes offensive. |

| So full of love when I exited the doors |
| Monday, January 25, 2010 |
I don't have a problem making decisions at most restaurants. Cuz I'm veg, there's usually only one or two things I can eat. However, the Hut's menu was positively teeming with deliciousness. I was so overwhelmed by indecision, I couldn't even order a drink or dessert. Sorry about that.
That was all just as well, because my guy and I were stuffed after our meal of Spicy Cha-Cha (Insert joke here), Au Lac Special Salad, Pho, and Golden Roll. We even had enough for a midnight snack. Spicy Cha-Cha was indeed spicy. Our fave was def the Au Lac Special Salad. I wish we'd ordered two.
The gentleman who waited on us was really lovely. The place was clean and bright. My belleh was so full of love when I exited the doors, I could see how this place got its name. |

| This place will make a believer out the most die-hard cynic |

Like meat? Love meat?
This place is nothing short of amazing. Get the BBQ Peking (Peking duck) and Lemon Grass Country (like fried chicken). Bring your meat lovingest friend. (I've been a happy, confirmed carnivore all my life.)
Leave believing there is a future without meat, with no taste to sacrifice.
This place will make a believer out the most die-hard cynic. |

| True innocent childlike love |
| Thursday, January 21, 2010 |
Innocence. It's the only excuse for naming a place "Loving Hut". And you know what? I'll go with it.
No, it's not a brothel or a Vietnamese bikini coffee bar. It's not a massage parlor or anything else you are thinking. In fact, if you are thinking that, you may not be Loving Hut material.
Loving Hut is in every sense of the word, a place to share your love of the environment, of animals, of people. True innocent childlike love.
We happened upon this place with the Yelp app while driving around in Alhambra on a random quest for food. My lovely eating partner is a vegetarian, and that means I will be consuming with my conscience on. And I always feel better about it, so that's good.
And then hey, we're two blocks from the "Loving Hut", damn "there it is!"
So we pull over and stroll on in. Gentle, gentle gentle is the vibe.
Cold day, rainy day, soup day. Let me tell you that their wonton pho is great. Maybe pig bones haven't been soaked in the broth, but their wontons are out of this world. Everyone raves about the "beef" chow mein, so I give it a try. Man! This "beef" is about as close to real as I need it to be - and without the heavy conscience (hey I know that's just me, no judgement on you people - don't even start cursing the vegetarians, let's keep this nicey nicey).
The noodles were a bit oily. And flat screens...there are two. What's up, my fellow masticator noticed, with flat screens at veggie joints?. Heck, I don't know.
And can I tell you that the fake pork slices are soooo close to the real thing? I know, the cynics out there are shaking their heads. It's cool, I know I'm a tree hugger. I also eat the critters even though I don't feel good about it.
In the windows are some framed pics with quotes about saving the planet and going green. I really can't argue with it. Maybe you can. That's cool. Don't hate.
I'll be back. |

I'll for sure be eating here regularly! |
| Wednesday, December 23, 2009 |
Been here twice..once to get some cake to go and another time i sat in and had a full meal. I dont know why people are saying the service is bad because both times i went in, the service was excellent. Maybe its because the times i went in, it wasn't very crowded.
When i sat in the second time, the waiter constantly came and refilled my water and made sure everything was ok. He was very nice and the food was served quickly. Their food reminded me of Veggie Era in Upland, except they have more desserts and the service is much better. I'll for sure be eating here regularly. |

After that first bite, I immediately fell in love! |

Went here on a whim, and boy was I surprised! The staff is very friendly and always willing to make suggestions and the food... AMAZING!
I was never really open about "fake meat" (been veg for almost 2 years) so I was kind of freaked out when we got our Bliss Chow Mein and it had 'beef' in it. After that first bite, I immediately fell in love.
Highly recommend their Chili Fries and their Rose Milk Latte. |

One of the better I have found in LA |
| Saturday, October 17, 2009 |
This Taiwanese veggie place is one of the better I have found in LA. Asian Veg is so much better than American.
Us gringos have not learned veg can consist of something other than over cooked broccoli and tofu...
Prices are good, small parking in back lot so prob all end up on the street. |

This place is super clean and super good! |

This place is super clean and super good! I recommend the 'beef' chowmein and rose lemonade. My daughter loved the 'chicken' nuggets with the special creamy sauce. Everything is tasty but not overly salty, perfect. Nothing overcooked either. The vegetables still have a vibrant color to them.
One of the most peaceful public restrooms ever ;D
Very nice service.
Check out the photos on the website, menu also has photos! |
